Thanks all, I've got another little surprise or two up my sleeve for the next preview (hopefully actual release candidate), but it may be a little bit off still as I want to try and get the whole "extras repo" thing figured out on top of all the interface work I still have to get done...
Your'e right, Jolouis, your latest Flip Clock is solid. I love the animated "seconds" indicator and I think the "exit" button is better than the previous image. While many are excited waiting the shipping our their N900's, I am equally excited whenever you release a new version of Flip Clock!

    thanks for all this

Here's a picky little thing. Is there a way to disable
the little "flipclock is starting" window that
comes up and corrupts the splash screen
(which is all by itself letting me know that
    flipclock is starting)?

    TIA

Thanks Den!! I'm glad to hear not only that the app is as solid as I had thought, but that you're enjoying it so much!

Hmmm can you clarify that for me? On my N800's here the "load process" that you see on the screen goes like this:
    1) Select flipclock from menu.
    2) Menu closes (obviously) and little white rounded rectangle appears in top right of screen saying "Flip Clock - Loading"
    3) Screen goes black for a second, then splash screen shows up:
"Flip clock, the ultimate timepiece Loading up..."
    4) The "Applying theme" overlay appears for a second or two, then main clock screen.
It all happens pretty quickly, but I assume you mean that screen that shows up on step #4 above? or?

    Thanks!

"I'm just letting you know that this one is pretty "Safe" to try ;-) (others who've got it installed already, back me up here? or tell me I'm completely wrong so I can fix it quickly!)"

Yes! It's safe on my N810

Works great here. Sometimes, it seems like hitting the alarm off button just triggers the snooze function though. I'm not really fully awake at that point though, so I'm not sure.

The first new version I installed, the little(flipclock loading) box in the corner seemed to leave a black afterimage covering some of the initial screen. It doesn't do it now with the second version? 0.9.0 (I also recently re-cloned my working installation).

Other than that very stable, rarely had any problems with it. No crashes with the current version.

Hey Lemmy glad to hear it's working well for you!! And no more goofy wierd alarms or odd problems!! (woohoo!). I'm pretty sure the snooze and alarm off functions work properly (could just be you're kind of hitting the wrong button? I did that a few times when I first started using the new version as my day to day alarm clock). Yea 0.9.0 cleaned up a few bits and pieces and seems to load/run a bit better than the last version; also I've found that if you have lots of other things bogging down the tablet memory you'll get odd little "tearing" and "rendering box" problems that have nothing to do with Flip, it's just the tablet itself running a bit slowly...

Anyways glad to hear that you haven't had any issues and it's nice and stable!

I finally got around to installing the SDKs on my development machine here to take a crack at proper packaging and the Fremantle issues, and after a bit of fighting I've got a few points regarding Fremantle crashing/compatibility:
    - The biggest problem (immediate crashing) comes from the fact that some of the libraries have changed between Diablo and Fremantle, most notably the AlarmD daemon library which has changed quite significantly. Now since the alarmD stuff is external to Flip itself this should be fairly easy to resolve, but it will take time and since I don't have any prospects of getting my hands on an actual device for a while I think this is going to go on the back burner for a bit.
    - There are some other minor issues that I assume related to library changes as well, and some odd colour stuff that I think has more to do with the SDK acting up than anything else, so until I can get a build worth actually testing on a device it's going to be a bit for a hickup here too. For all your N900 people just be patient as I'm going to focus on getting more features and finalizing graphics before I take a look at making the API updates needed to get it running well in Maemo 5.

? Anyone know how to setup this thread to automatically THANK jolouis (& ciroip too) for dedication to our timekeeping addiction

The latest version seems to be very stable.

I have had it running all night (& a good portion of the day)for the last several days, and I have had no problems. ( I am holding off on using the alarms just yet as I like the 24hr clock )

Where can I find the other themes? I have the normal flip and the night mode themes... but the nixie theme was starting to grow on me...

    Thanks again!

    Hi

I also installed an tried the new version, but I have three issues:
    - I still got that f***ing old phantom alarm on Wednesday :-( I tried your clean now and hope it's finaly eliminated!
    - On Tuesday I snoozed the alarm, when it went off, but decided two minutes later to switch the alarm off and stand up. BUT it still went off 15 minutes later! So switching the alarm off, does not infect snoozes.
    - I miss the 24h mode!!!

Overall the new version is stable and nice!

    Bye Jens

sorry I wasn't clear. this is what happens
    when I start flipclock

first the little rectangle appears saying
    "flipclock started"

the little rectangle remains on screen and
    the flipclock splashscreen appears behind
    it, partially obscured

then the little rectangle disappears, leaving
a blank rectangle area in the splashscreen

finally flipclock starts and all is well

IMO, the little rectangle thingy is completely
unnecessary or there is no need for the
splashscreen (can it be disabled BTW?)
