Do you have a command for increase the volume?

I'll try to change my video tomorrow...

By the way, the fly video is awesome!

Great work claesbas. I'm about to change mine to one of these as well.

Also, to all people here, great forum! I can't wait to see where this maemo journey is going to take us. Beautiful places that is for sure.. The blogosphere is buzzing. Techsites are raving. The n900 wave.

@claesbas what programs are you using to edit your videos? I'm looking to make one of my own. Yours are nice but I'm looking for something personal.

    Thanks for any help.

The 3D is done in Cinema 4D and then I took that into Adobe After Effects and did the other effects. With just After effects you can do magic. Try it out and check for tutorials.. I can recommend this site http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/

    I became root:
    root
Then change to the directory where I want the file:
    cd /ush/share/hildon-welcome/media/
    Then download the file:
    wget http://castus.dnsalias.com:8080/shar...id_lame_r3.avi
    Then edit the config:
    vi /etc/hildon-welcome.d/default.conf
And in there edit the filename to the video.
Then reboot to see your new video.
For this to work you need rootsh to become root only by typing "root", and wget to download the file through commandline.

I did this and it was perfect! The only difference for me was that I used 'leafpad' instead of 'vi'.

Thank you so much for making this so very simple, especially for a n00b like me!

Cheers for those instructions. I didn't have wget so had to copy it from MyDocs area, but everything else was fine.

    Flyby looks awesome!

However I am glad to give you my help.

Step By step boot video change for N900:

1- go to the repository menu of N900
2- Install ssh server on N900
3- ssh on installation will ask you for a password (choose one)
4- go to your main PC and download a free ssh client with a graphic interface (it's much easier to use for a newbie) like winscp.
5- in your N900 launch xterminal and type: sudo gainroot
6- in x terminal type then: ifconfig
7- ifconfig will show you r ip address (of course you MUST be connected to a wireless lan with your N900 )
8- open winscp and login to this ip address.
    login:root password: your passord
9- go tho /usr/share/hildon-welcom/media and copy the boot video you want.
10- ho to /etc/hildon-welcom.d/ and copy default.conf to ypur PC
11-open in your PC default.conf with notepad and modify it with the name of the new video
12- save without changing name of the file
13- replace the file .conf in N900
    14- disconnect and restart N900.

    That's it...

I hope to have been useful

THANK YOU!!! This work perfectly for a noob like myslef who has never touched linux.

All the other directions assumed everyone else has prior linux knowledge with the terminalX and I didn't understand or get anything to work. This easy step by step worked for me!
