If i wanted to check my emails on a hotmail account, i would load up hotmail.com and login to my account on my main pc.

How does this work on a phone? Would i have to open the browser everytime i wanted to check my hotmail account or can it be integrated somehow so that i could go to a screen to see my emails?

You should be able to use POP e-mail access with Hotmail using the built-in e-mail client without any issues or using the web browser.

Microsoft began offering free POP3 access to all around January in some countries. I think they've continued to expand the availability, but I don't follow Hotmail closely.

Settings available here or here. POP3S only; no IMAPS...

[EDIT]In the 90s Hotmail did provide POP3. Example source from 1998. I'm 100% positive about this because I used POP3 on Hotmail back then. At some point this was disabled though. We all know why . Outlook Express was/is(?) also able to read e-mail using HTTP. Other methods to access Hotmail in this Wikipedia article.[/EDIT]

Hi all,

I set up my hotmail email account on the N900 using the Email App. My questions are:

1) Is there a way to only retrieve new emails going forward? Right now I got hundreds of old (already read items) emails in my inbox, and I only want the N900 to retrieve new emails from now on. Is there a way to do this?

2) Is there a way I can make the N900 prompt me to sign in my password for the hotmail account everytime I want to use the Email App? Because right now it automatically signs me in. I want a little more security just in case I lose my phone and someone picked it up would be able to read my emails, would like to safe guard myself in that situation.

Thanks.
