Do I need to have the advoid app open for it to work or will it work after the system updates are done regardless of it the app is open or not?

I ran it one time, updated the system, and I never looked back again.

Nope, you don't need to keep this app open.

I fall into the run once and file away category as well.

But I'm wondering about how often to update. It looks like MVPS releases a new host file around the beginning of each month. Does Advoid pick these up each month?

Advoid will not auto update. You must run the app and tap/click the download button and then 'update my system'.

It's only really necessary if you start to see adverts where you didn't before.

You may have to resort to findig the URL of the add and enteering it in your 'personal' fiile.
