Hope this is the right forum to ask in...

Is there any method (API or exisiting programs etc.) to obtain info from the N900 about the radio environment? I'd like to be able to obtain current ARFCN (radio channel), neighbour cells, RSSI etc. and/or their 3G equivalents. Or am I doomed to keeping my HTC Tytn2 nearby for when I need to get this info quickly?

I had a look through the documents available in the dev area, but I didn't find anything at all.

Would be nice to have access to Cell Id informations. Such infos are handy for location based services and do not require GPS to be on.

Look at liblocation in
Maemo 5 API documentation.
I don't use this nor do i know anything about this. But, for example, the API describes datastructures for GSM-CellInfos.

That's a good find, thanks. It makes available the info on the currently registered network, and the identity of the Base Station it's being served by, in 2G and 3G modes.

I'd like to access more network info, but I'll take what I can get!

I'm interested in the same thing, and just started similar topic here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34729

Don't know if you're aware of CellTrack application for S60 devices, I'm basically thinking to create the same sort of app and hook it up with my online database of base stations. :)

Btw, by far the best network info provider application is Nokia's Field Test Display. With proper mods applied it's simply unbeatable! I didn't find HTC's fieldtest.exe that appealing, tbh, but all depends what are you looking for.

That's exactly what would serve the basic purpose of my little app idea! Yay, thanks! :D
