i want to sync the passwords on the 770 to the passwords that i use on my network. basicly i want to ssh to the 770 and do some stuff from a different machine, like bulk loading POI's into the sqlite3 database. will i screw anything up by changing the user or root passwords?

I have changed my user password in the past 2005os and never had an issue. I now only change my root password, and again I never have had any issues. You can definetly change the root password without any problems.
