I was just hoping that someone might take a screwdriver to their N900 loaner and post high-resultion pictures of what the insides looked like. I think knowing details of the hardware in general is useful, but particularly:
We could prove to everyone "hey look, there's no compass"! (better still, OMGWTF look a compass, but I'm not holding my breath)
Maybe determine in exactly what way USB host mode is disabled in the hardware, and how much hacking is required to reenable
Determine what chipset the radio transmitter uses, and if it then might be able to access some of the lower FM bands to avoid used stations
Taunt me some more
I know y'all don't want to risk your precious loaners, but I think it would be a nice help to the community. As a thanks, I'll chip in $5 for good quality photos.

Uhm, which part of "loaner" did you not understand? They are not ours to break (and if they were we probably wouldn't). If you disagree feel free to spend several hundred $CURRENCY of your own money, take a screwdriver to it and post photos for the rest of us to see.
There are organisations that do these so-called "tear downs" and post pictures on the web, so hopefully one of them will do this soon, although probably with a retail model rather than a loaner.
