What is the status of the comm software stack? Is it open, are there headers available or is it simply off-limits? This should give a clue about how much a community-made app could do

As for the ring bug that was opened, it would be nice to have a preference for each contact about when they can or can't contact you, by SMS, phone, and any other supported protocols linked to the profile.

And what is a "built-in security program" exactly? Just another marketing buzzword by Blackberry, or can you explain what it does? :-)
This function is just simply block incoming messages that I don't want, e.g. spammers, or when I'm in a meeting, I just don't want to be disturbed by others except for certain people, so I could simply decide which one I want to be messaged during a certain period of time, or which one I don't. Blackberry does have 'firewall' option built-in its 'security options'. Although it is not very easy to use in first time, at least it works for me. I really hope N900 will have similar function or 3rd party application, since it might be sort of concerns when some people (might not be many) decide to switch to maemo platform.

This sounds like a good ticket for the Maemo Brainstorm, if it has not been posted before.

Or simply for people hating robocalls...I had in mind to create one for calls but I have yet to understand how to interact with the phone application (notification of incoming calls, reaction to them...).

Also, apparently there might already be something like that:
Call-Forward

Does anyone figure it out how to make a SMS blacklist or whitelist application? Call-forward is just for blocking annoying incoming calls but can't free us from advertising or spamming text messages .

I'm looking for "Whitelist" application, it's absolutely required to be available, before i go to buy n900.

So basically, feature that makes it possible to block all other calls (or make them silent-ringtoned), expect numbers on that whitelist.

My boss may call me any time at night, so he must always be able to reach me by phone. But i dont want to keep my phone available for everyone! On symbian phones that feature was built in, by calling groups: just did put my boss in his own group and made that group onlyone to get calls thru. (Other dialers were silent, only boss's hearable).

So, is that feature possible to get into n900?

[sorry my bad english]
