720p files actually play using RockPlayer on Nitdroid on the N900. Well, it's not watchable (~5fps), but sound plays fine at least. On Maemo5, it does not at all due to some form of video card driver limitation. Well, it would be much more watchable if DSP kicked in but right now, it's all CPU and obviosuly it's not enough.
Download these files, you can download from here: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/maemo/vlc/
save them where you are in the terminal
libvlc5_1.1.0~git5935-1_armel.deb
vlc-nox_1.1.0~git5935-1_armel.deb
vlc-player-nox_1.1.0~git5935-1_armel.deb
vlc-player_1.1.0~git5935-1_armel.deb
then run
'dpkg -i debfilename' for each file in the order as below
but seriously it doesn't worth the try there is still bugs
right now i would not recommend to sina any fooling around in xterm. Letīs ask this: Do you know how to backup and completely and then flash your device? If yes then go ahead and experiment your device. Otherwise please learn first to backup and flash your device to factory settings. Remember that you are holding "computer" in your hands and you have all the power to fck it up completely
Thanks a lot clovis.
package not installed (I really don't know why), but I'm happy that finally I learned a little about terminal!
but I've a question : if the command was dpkg for installing them, so what was apt-get ???
and why these files are not graphically installable (like windows)??? isn't that more user friendlier??? (I'm new to ubuntu (4 months), and I have this problem with that to)
