Hello i'm new in this Forum.

I have a N810 and want to flash meaemo to the external mmc.

I tried this How-TO:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Booting_from_a...ne_to_the_card

But i don't want to clone the card, i want to flash the card completly new!

When i start N810, the Bootmenu is starting, but then:
How can i flash the maemo on the external mmc?

When i select the external mmc & press "Home" the Windows Software don't find the N810.
It find it only when i press Home by starting N810 (before the Boot-menu come). But then the software doesn't flash to external mmc right?

Please help me.
Regards Stefan

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but the SD card doesn't support the jffs2 file system that the internal flash storage uses. That's why we typically clone to an ext2 or ext3 partition on the SD card. Sorry if that didn't make sense, but this topic is usually for advanced users or ambitious newbies. And it doesn't help that the word "flash" has two meanings. But in the end, I think you really should just follow the cloning instructions.

Good luck!

You can't flash the external mmc with the flasher.
What is wrong with clonning ? after you clone you boot from the clone. Clonning and flashing is practically the same.
The wiki instructions are difficult to follow. Use console-tools instead. here:

Hi,

Thank you very much for the answer. Now i'm understand.

But i have one question again.
In the How-To:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Booting_from_a...ne_to_the_card

it's describe:
"0 - Create ext2 filesystem on partition 2 of the Internal memory card "

But i don't want to use the internal memory card, i want use the external card.

Then i can't use the script right? Do you have an other Tutorial?

Regards & Thank you very much!
Stefan

I used my desktop pc to create partitions on my external card and ran "./nupgrade.sh clone external"

.... worked for me!
