I am trying to find a method to link/sync music playback in my PC and Meamo (N800). What I mean by link/sync is both the PC and N800 is playing back same song at the same time. Also, any changes to PC or N800 playlist updates the PC/N800 playlist.

So if mine PC Is playing song ABC at position 0:30, the N800 should be playing the song back at the exact same position. Maybe, the PC actually stream the audio and the Meamo Apps plays it back?

If I seek the ABC song to position 2:00 in N800, the PC should also change. I if change the track in N800, the PC should also change the track. Also, if the items are added, deleted, or rearranged in playing in N800 the PC should pick up the update. Vice Versa for the PC changes updates to the N800.

One thing nice to have would be run "stand-alone", when the PC and N800 runs out of sync or one is not playing. You should of course be able to resync the device from N800 or PC whenever you want.

Any idea of application that actually provides this solution?

I'm sure there are several approaches with a music server.

I use a squeezebox/slimserver on my hifi and it is possible to have the software player on my computer - squeezeplay - run in sync with the squeezebox. Unfortunately squeezeplay doesn't run right yet on the N800 - there's a thread somewhere.

Afaik maemo (at least 5) uses pulseaudio, so you can easily do network streaming of all sound (and duplication with multiple sinks).

Windows port of pulseaudio is very limited though (only server mode), so treaming from windows to maemo might not be possible. But streaming from maemo to windows is no problem. If the desktop pc is running linux you can easily stream in both directions.

edit: just saw that the n800 doesn't use pulseaudio but esd, sorry...
but you might wanna check out http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=310848 if you're interested

I do not understand the use case. Can you give background information on what you want to achieve? Why 2 audio outputs???
If you don't need two outputs, you could use VNC to work directly on the PC screen as a simple remote control. Or Mediastreamer and control the PC as a uPnP AV media renderer.

I was thinking using a simple get audio to other areas of the house WITHOUT having to run my main audio super loud or having the install speakers all over the house. The idea is to have audio in area of house I want but not being loud enough disturb other rooms. AKA music playing in computer room and my bedroom, but not heard in Living or Kitchen.

The plan is to get this working with what I have currently. Maybe in future I will be 2 or more N800/N810 so I have 3 clients (Meamo) and 1 PC windows server.
