@qole: ever thought about going through bittorent or sorts ? I know it's an overkill, but still, it would help with bandwidth and speed...

Somehow the nicely detailed changelog that you provided got lost by the move to Extra. Instead the download page misleadingly says:
    Changes in version 0.9.46-1fremantle1

This app is now in Extras! A newer version is in Extras-testing. Please test the newer version and vote if you can

attila77: I have started considering that, but I would need (1) a way to script a bittorrent client on the n900 (2) lots of seeds.

    Hi!

I installed easy debian today, and it works great! but my "Close Debian" icon didn't installed, so now my only way to umount debian so I can mount the device in my PC is to restart the phone...

Anyone knows why this happened? any way to umount it manually or to recover the icon?

I don't know if this has something to do, but I din't download the image in my phone, I did it with my PC instead, I also uncompressed it in the PC and later I transferred it to the phone, so I didn't use the "Debian Image Installer" program... do I have to do this on the phone?

    Thanks

    (1) I have rtorrent built for the N900 and it's fairly easily scriptable, not rocket science. For a more heavyweight solution, there is even a (headless adaptable) Qt bittorent client (or two) in extras-devel. I reckon if there is serious interest in it, it's doable without too much fuss.

    (2) Are you kidding ? Seems to me you're underestimating the popularity of Easy Debian Drop a line on any Debian list and you will be swarming with seeds.

And, as a (3), since we're talking Debian, you might also want to take a look at Jigdo if you want to stick to http, but conserve some bandwidth (and make updates easier).

NoX, I'm not sure why you don't have the "Close Debian" icon in your menu, it should look like the red "d" diamond being put into a box.

Please make sure you have the newest Easy Debian installed, as well as the newest Easy Chroot.

Even if you can't find the icon, you can also do the same thing from a terminal. Simply type:

    Code:
    sudo closechroot

Yes, it seems that I must be.

Hmm, how can I trade on that popularity to get a job?

    Hey!

Im a complete noob here to Linux but I'm loving it so far. Installed Easy Debian but someone tinkered with the phone while it was on and closed it normally (and lost my stylus as well). I dunno if that was the trigger or what, but now:

    - I do not find the MENU ICON in the desktop and I cannot click it. I cannot open the menu.

    Any ideas?

    Second question:

1- Is it safe to install apps from Synaptic? What about the dependencies and packages it says it will upgrade, install and change? No harm on Maemo 5?

Thank you for making the Maemo community simply the best out there Thank you for teaching me tons'o things.
