Do you think that might actually work if a Java ME was created for the N900 - or do you think it would be too complicated for that type of Java implementation. Though I can't see something like that appearing too soon - if at all. It seems a lot of people want to avoid the java side of things on Maemo. It's all good to know about though!

Both client and server... NX beats VNC hands down in speed, plus there are Microsoft clients too.

How kewl is this? Ridiculously. Brings out the maniac in me, actually.

Opened the VNC client on the N900 FROM the VNC client on the PC, which led me to control the PC from the N900 that I was controlling from the PC. Yes, I cackled quite maniacally. Note the seemingly infinitely recursive desktops!

Ah, the power of the Penguin!

@skalogre, what program did you install on your n900 (was it x11vnc?) to control it from your pc, and did you run into any issues?

i'm also getting the black screen and the rotating "loading" icon.

do i need to configure x11vnc from the command line first to get it to work? or is there something else i'm missing?

Ok I think I figured it out guys install x11vnc and from the terminal on the n900 run it with "x11vnc" this runs it with no password authentication so be carefull. To connect to the phone just get the phone's local ip and type it in on the vnc app you have on your pc. It is a bit slow and if you have a screen timeout on your N900 your viewer will go blank just go to your phone and tap the screen to make the screen on the N900 go back to normal.
