I was surprised when I got my n900 yesterday connected to WiFI and I saw one of my PC with Windows Medial Payer (shared music) being listed on n900 as a source of music.

I could easily pick up songs and play..now for some reasons songs stop at 95% mark..but still nice surprise

Yeah, if enabled, wmp streams the music to all devices connected in the network, if they support that feature. My PS3 does that, too.

edit: streaming videos should also be possible without problems.

This is possible because N900 supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance).

Yeah it works with multiple servers too. When you bring up the media server it will appear at the bottom in small text. Click this to browse the folders. You can also see it in file manager - shared media.

I'm sure theres a DNLA server kicking about too so you can do this the otherway around. See your music stored on phone on the wifi you are connected to, from the pc.
No by default though.
