Here are the problems I have with advanced power:

1. Disappears from the statusbar if I kill hildon-desktop for any reason and only a complete reboot will bring it back.

2. Works fine, but when it gets down to around 40% it seems (still 2 bars) it turns to the empty red battery very low state.

Any ideas what causes these issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. I killed the hildon-desktop process and advanced power came back fine
2. Is probably related to your battery. I know when I use my knock-off it'll go from full, to half, to red with the snap of my fingers, but it's much the same with the stock battery applet.

device, OS, and advanced power version?

*shrug* I'm running 0.3.6 and 0.4.1 respectively. You could try downgrading, might be your install.

Anyone else having this issue?

running 0.4.0-8 and 0.5.0-5 here, and no problems like that at all.

did you install it over a previous version or clean? if you installed it over a previous one, maybe try a uninstall to clean up.

It still does it on a clean install. When the problem started I had upgraded it, but in the meantime needed to do a reflash. Another weird behavior that it's done before that I forgot about untill this morning, is it was fully chrged and still on the charger, I killed hildon desktop to update the icon cache after updating a program, and when the device came back on , it showed the battery as very low then a few seconds later showed the fully charged battery icon.

would not running gtk-update-icon-cache be less cumbersome then restarting hildon-desktop for that?

well, once you run that, you either have to kill hildon-desktop or reboot

I just downgraded. This weekend, the desktop crashed and advanced power was not in the status bar. Even after a reboot, it would not show up. It was selected from the control panel. Disabling and re-enabling caused desktop to crash. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still causes desktop to crash.

Downgrading seems to have solved the problem for now.

I guess the question to ask, what is the best previous version to use that doesnt have any of these strange behaviors?
