Torch function is one of the reasons I favor LED over flash in mobile. I use that function with my current SonyEricsson quite often.
In SE its a standard feature in the app menue:

    On for a minute
    On
    Off
    SOS

If LED temp is a critical factor for torch program on the N900 one can try to use a blinking with a higher frequence.

    Bye

    Thorsten

I believe liqtorch turns the whole screen white for use as a torch. It's currently in the stack for testing and approval. It will be in extras as soon as it's cooked.

In the meantime, just set one of your desktops to be a plain white image, then swipe to it whenever you want a torch.

I can confirm the one I have used on my 5800 works well, and I have probably put 1 to 2 hours of use into it. Someone has to be able to get this working, LED>>>>White Screen.

N93i is already used it as Torch. Also N86 can take video using Dual LED flash to giving it more light at night video. So This is the benefit of Dual LED i think.

Its LED not ZEON flash. LED don't dies unless you over powered it

Overpowered LED doesn't die either, if it's operated for a very short time.

That's why some posts speculate that the LED circuit might not be designed to supply the right current for continuous operation.

But we really have no idea, without information from Nokia.

Torch can be limited to 30 seconds or 50 seconds time interval. I believe this is not out of the question since N86 8Mp is already allowed such thing.

If it's overdriven you may have to limit it to an interval closer to 0.1 seconds or less, and pulse it for torch operation.

It might be fine to run continuously like the N86, or it might have a different driving circuit. We don't know. Unless someone wants to take theirs apart? Didn't think so
