Hi,

i have the Nokia 770 and the old IPod

Goal - I would like to provide a Podcast

For the IPod i can buy an Griffin iTalk Pro

iTalk Pro is perfect for capturing how the world around you really sounds.

Whether you’re taking lecture notes, conducting an interview, or just want to bring the sounds of the great outdoors indoors, your only limitations are your iPod’s capacity, and your own imagination.

iTalk’s twin built-in mics record directly to your iPod, and adjustable gain settings give you control over the volume. You can even use external microphones with iTalk Pro. Just plug your mic into the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of iTalk Pro.

Which possibility exists with Nokia 770 ?????

Thanks in advance

I believe you are looking for Maemo Recorder:

With the 770, at least you have the ability to upload your Podcast when finished. That Griffin device just turns your iPod into a glorified tape recorder. If you are looking for a mp3 player with integrated recording abilities, checkout the iRiver H300 series. It has an excellent built in mike, as well as provisions for using high quality external ones. It can record in several different formats, as well.

I think that for the Nokia 770 you've got no possibility at all for now.
The Nokia 770 has a built-in microphone but no line-in or mic-in input.

It has, indeed, a USB port. So you've got to look for an USB mic (like the Griffin iMic) and check if it works on the Nokia 770 (probably you've got to check for and play with the host/client modes).

But if Linux has support for USB microphones (and it surely has) then it should be quite easy to have such a mic working on the Nokia 770

I'd actually be interested in seeing someone do a test podcast using the 770 using only the built-in mic and Maemo Recorder. It would be cool to compare the recording quality to other methods. I just wish Maemo Recorder was able to record directly to mp3 or ogg formats.

Nokia people sleep probably still

Sorry, they could bring so much innovation - but nothing to see

The time plays for Apple - unfortunately
