At the settings, down at the bottom, there is a menu which allows to change the lock code of the device. thank god the device does not lock automatically when i got it, but when i tried to change the code, it wants me to give the old code. But i dont have one. It doesnt give it in the manual either as far as i know.

anyone had trouble with this?

From all the Nokia devices I've used, the default lock code is 12345.

The default code is 12345. It is in the manual (page 11, at least in the Spanish version).

Greetings.

You probably tried one too many times. You'd need to send it to Nokia to unlock it for you.

ouch. i know it will lock you out if you get the SIM code wrong 3x but hadn't realised it would do that with the phone lock. ugh. thanks. will a new fw update reset that? (fingers crossed)

firmware updates will NOT fix locked out codes.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know device lock lets you try how many times you wish to enter a code.

On the other hand, lock code for the SIM has a limited number of tries (3 I think), then you have to use the longer PUK code
