When trying to install weave I get the following error message: Weave 1.0b3 cannot be installed, because it is not compatible with firefox 1.0b5. Is there a workaround for this or how can I get weave to work on my n900???

I have 1.0b2 of weave.

try to drag your finger from right to left in firefox to bring up a button-bar, then press the icon in the right-bottom (cog wheel symbol) which brings up preferences. From there press the icon on the top (jigzaw-puzzle symbol). Install addon from there

Mardac's response in the bug report solved my problems!

You'll need to be running at least "Mobile Firefox 1.0b6pre". Hopefully
there'll be a Fennec 1.0rc or something similar this week. But if you want to
grab a nightly build of Fennec 1.0b6pre, you can get it here:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...-mobile-1.9.2/
Weave works fine now. Thanks!

Put both the firefox and the xulrunner .deb files somewhere on the N900 where you will be able to find it (for example the documents folder). Then start a terminal, gain root privileges ("sudo gainroot"), and then type "dpkg -i path/of/firefox.deb path/of/xulrunner.deb" (of course replace with real path and package names). That's all!

i tried this an heres the output from x-term,

/home/user # dpkg -i /home/user/Downloads/fennec_1.0b6pre_armel.deb
dpkg: error processing /home/user/Downloads/fennec_1.0b6pre_armel.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
/home/user/Downloads/fennec_1.0b6pre_armel.deb
/home/user #

I placed the .deb in to downloads...

Any ideas?

Cheers

The path you used is incorrect since the folder structure on the N900 is not exactly the same as on a regular Linux installation (for example Ubuntu).

You don't need to add /home/user since you already start from that directory when you are root.
For the Documents folder the path would be MyDocs/.documents/firefox.deb
So for you Downloads folder it would be MyDocs/Downloads/firefox.deb

One trick I always use to check if my path is correct is to type the beginning of the folder or file name and the hit tab. If it exists, the name should be autocompleted (except if there is more than one possible folder or file based on the letters you already typed; to show all possibilities, hit tab twice).
