    Any technical reason for this?

That does not make much sense to me. Most people don't use email like they use instant messaging.

This is also something I am looking for as well. It is quite a pain to monitor all the various msgs that the N900 is capable of. IM's, SMS, Email... one place that aggregates would be most useful.

I agree with total integration; the question stays: is there any technical issue against having mails into conversations?

Instant messages and SMS are both in Conversations already, aren't they? So there's only two places to check, Conversations and Email, not three as you make it sound.

Personally, I don't think email fits the Conversations paradigm, but that wouldn't stop someone from writing an email plugin to Conversations to add that if desired.

I'm with you I don't think email belongs there, i don't want to see time-lines for Viagra spammers show in my conversations app and i don't want the latest products from ebay and amazon in there as these are emails you don't reply to(maybe some reply to first example ) so what's the use of having conversation timeline for them, the amount of emails i get daily would make conversations app a total shambles for me

i believe the simple reason is that IM/SMS are usually between two people, and mails can go to several, which would make it a bit difficult to integrate into "Conversations".
personally, i like it the way it is. i use IM / SMS is for private stuff, but at work it's mail only. and i don't think i'm the only one making that distinction

I don't know folks: gmails seems to have captured the conversation paradigm well, which is what I use on my N900 as my primary email, so I would love to see it being part of conversations.

You don't see these (if you use gmail) because gmail puts these into spam folder so they never get synched to N900.

The Conversations app is a progression of Conversations on S60, which was SMS only. Adding IM was great, but email would be even better. S60 users have begged for this feature for years.

It could work as long as emails still remained accessible in the client. Maybe add emails from specific users, or making certain emails from certain contacts Conversation enabled.
