I'm having a problem connecting my N900 to my car's Dension Gateway 300, USB box.

Basically doesn't mount the mass storage memory.

I've also since tried with my Toshiba TV 46XV635DB, where it crashes the TV. I've got to switch it off and back on to get the remote working.

Is their a fault with the implementation of USB mass storage, which effects the use on non Windows boxes?

I did notice reports from a few Linux users having problems too.

I remember reading something here about USB host mode not being enabled due to some hardware or some such. Look around, the thread is on the forums somewhere.

AFAIK usb host feature is missing from n900 so you will not be able to view the content of a usb device in n900 but you can mount n900 onto other device and see the content of n900 into other devices.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I am having difficulty using the N900 as a mass storage device, on hosts other than my Windows PCs.

I.e, my car mp3 player and TV have a USB slot where I can connect USB mass storage.

The car player does not recognise the N900 and the TV crashes when the N900 is connected.

Has anyone else had difficulty accessing the internel storage from a non Windows host?

Non-Windows Host: Yes. However this was just a couple linux boxes.

I am, however, in the exact same boat as you. I used to connect my old phone to my car's headunit to listen to music, and it would normally just mount a Fat32 partition on the phone (The MicroSD car) and I could browse the file system perfectly.

When attempting to plug my N900 unto the headunit, however, it doesn't work. I recognizes there is a device plugged in, but it says there are no files on the device.
