On a side note, is there a thread with a guide of basic commands in x term... I'm a linux noob but I need to learn basic commands
If you use the package from extras-devel then there's no need to create an icon file yourself. The new version installs the game on the right place too (in /opt instead of rootfs) and creates an icon for ya.

Yes i can but the question is if it's a good idea

Be sure to read the warning here:

    http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel

After you've read that and still want to install the game..

You have to enable the extras-devel repository to find the game. You can read here how:

    http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel#H...e_Extras-devel

After enabling, the list of installable apps is refreshed.

Then go to download and do a search for numpty. Click on it to install.

After installing, go to Application manager --> Application catalogs again and disable the extras-devel imediatly.

would you say this is pretty safe in its current version? I really want to play it but don't currently use the maemo extras-devel. I've read about reflashing etc...it seems pretty straight forward its just if I get into coding etc...I will get a bit unstuck.

I've backed up my phone onto a micro sd that is on in my phone.

I think the current version of NumptyPhysics is pretty good playable and safe to use. There are problems (crashes and 'hangs') reported on the edit menu and the selection of levels doesn't work.

IMHO there can be a problem if you leave the extras-devel repository enabled and use updates from it or install other software from it. That's why i only enable it to install one piece of software and then disable it as fast as i can

Software is in -devel because it's not considered ready for general users by the developer. If you are concerned about your N900 and not willing to flash if something goes wrong, wait for the developer to decide it's ready, and put it in -testing, at the least. Only software in Extras is tested to be safe.

Thanks Robbie. I should have known that.

Great game, absolutely addicted to it. Having some issues with saved games though. When I try to launch the saved game file the game starts up then immediately quits. Anyone else having this issue and/or am I going about loading saved games incorrectly?

Awesome game..iv finished all the preloaded levels..by hook and by crook, quite literally..

I cant seem to get the user submitted levels to work on my n900 though..from
    http://numptyphysics.garage.maemo.org/levels/

The level files are in the nph format (or zipped npz packs) whereas the preloaded level files show as npd in the n900 game folder..

Someone know how to go about this?
