Installation of the last version worked flawlessly (no errors, Hildon desktop restarted without a glitch) and update-menu also works. Thanks!

Well I came in too late to be of any help, but I can confirm this last version works just fine... thanks for a great improvement to our N900 !
here is the new version with /bin/sh
