    SHUTDOWN SPLASHSCREEN

put the png image you want to use in:
    /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon
    and rename it 'startup_nokia_logo'
    then reboot phone

make a backup of the original file from that location first
and keep it safe incase you ever want the original back

not sure why it still shows the old image when booting up, but this works for shutdown, hopefully someone can help with that

    ------------------------------------

CHANGE STATUS AREA BATTERY ICON COLOUR

    http://www.mediafire.com/?mivnrinzhnn
just unzip the download from above and put the 8 png files into:
    /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon
    and reboot phone.
    there already renamed this time
but make a safe backup of the originals for yourself
before overwriting any of these files

    ----------------------------------------

    CHANGE OFFLINE/ONLINE NOTIFICATION SOUNDS

when phone first loads and connects, or when switching to online mode, the phone plays a quiet beep sound,
i changed that to 'welcome - to the real world' (morpheous from the matrix)

and a new offline sound, plays when going offline, 'command functions are offline' (from star trek i think!)

download and unzip from the link below:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?v3tnjdnddmk
and put the 2 files into:
    /usr/share/sounds
    and reboot phone

make backups of your original files before overwriting with these

    -------------------------------------------------------

and a couple of startup animations i made:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ntzjkwbjztj

    http://www.mediafire.com/?wz05ztnz2ty

just put the avi you want to use into:
    /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media
    and rename it 'Hands-v32-h264'
no need to mod the config file if you keep the original name

make a back up of your original file first

hey all, OK so ive done a few of these mods now. i have two questions.

    1) How can a make a script and run it off desktop, however i need the script to execute xterm commands has i hate having to type them everytime my theme gets an update.

    2) With profile, you know how you have silent and that gives you an icon in the status bar, how can i make it show an icon for general?

If you use Windows by far the best way is to install WinSCP and OpenSSH, you can then copy/amend/view all your files on your PC which makes things a million times easier.

Run scripts off the desktop using Desktop Command Execution or Queen BeeCon widgets

    http://maemo.org/downloads/product/M...ktop-cmd-exec/

    http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/queen-beecon/

The second ones harder... I would speak to someone like Omeriko

    http://forums.internettablettalk.com/member.php?u=29780

...He made the call notify app (which puts an icon in the status area), so he should be able to help you or give you an idea as to how to go about it. You might need a dedicated app for that tho!

all you have to do is read... read a wiki or a thread of a specific project you want. like for example changing icons u have to read about ssh-ing like using winscp or filezilla. read how to install ssh server and how to connect to ur device. thats the fist thing u hve to learn bfre customzing you device. and if u cnnot get it or undrstand the basics of it, then maybe maybe n900 is not the device for you. or just leave it just the way it is...
n900 for me pimpd or not is still the most beautiful phone ever

OK you're going to need to follow the steps above and get WinSCP and OpenSSH up and running on your phone/PC, that is the most important thing.

There are tons of step by step guides on how to do it, I've linked to a few earlier in the thread (and above):

    http://talk.maemo.org/search.php?searchid=7887631

Once you can literally see the files and folders and the way they are arranged this whole thread will make much more sense believe me!

Like I said- this is what makes open source great, so please please please thank the chef if you see him about, not the waiter

No just ignore the update if it's for the original version, I think this version will be pushed out as an update soon anyway mate

I can't recall in this thread or another. A guy posted some battery icons that changed in colour, red being low and green full. Is anyone able to make new icons for the signal indicator in a similar fashion. I really like the colour difference, makes it really simple to see and no idea how to make them myself.
    Would be much appreciated.
