Since the last ~5 days, my n900 finds no media. Is there a checklist of files/permissions to check or some database to rebuild?

go to xterminal,(install rootsh so you can gain root access first, if you have not already done so)

Type
sudo gainroot

tracker-processes -r

this will remove the log file for all your media so the media player will refresh now after the next time you go into it. not sure if this works for the image viewer but i think it does.

I am afraid that did.not work. I tried rebooting after, just in case...)

i tried that suggestion but it did not work for me. i think the problem is caused by a "extra" beta application which i installed but i dont know which one.
