There is no package called pymaemo and no package called optify.
However there is one called pymaemo-optify
try that instead You need to have extras enabled to do so. Check that you typed everything correctly.
Oh extras. I had this disabled to save space. And the howto you posted had the disabling of these extra repos before the apt-get pymaemo-optify command, so I did it in that order.
Thanks anyway, I have managed to make enough space42.8MB :-)
My phone froze also after downloading the package and starting the installation, seemingly at the point when it was trying to reboot, just popped up the phone interface on the phone which was unresponsive, but the menu from the power button worked ok.
I waited for ~15 minutes and then restarted the phone from the menu, then the update started running at boot time: 'Installing software update. Please do not interrupt.'
Now the phone has been running the update since noon local time (2 hours) and is going forward at a crawling speed, currently at 54%. Anyone else had a similar experience, if so, did the update actually go through ok? (I'll report my results here seemingly in about another 2 hours...
Update finished in ~3 hours and the phone works ok, thank god. Seemingly it did not charge the battery at all during the update even though it was connected to the charger, luckily it was at full charge when I started the update and ended up with ~35% left.

I only said to disable devel and testing. Either way, 42.8Mb is pretty tight. Hope it works.
