Very annoying. I needed to install a couple of packages today to get something urgent done and now I can't.

I think of the maemo.org repositories as an essential service, in a similar way to email and IM. Ie. can live without it but it's quite disruptive when needed and it's down.

Do we need a secondary repository for when repository.maemo.org goes down? Is there one already? Should I consider making a personal mirror ready for next time it's down? (it'll fit into 32GB easily I would think).

Btw, the first rule of server changes is make sure the new server is working before turning off the old one!

The second rule is cut over the service as gradually as possible in case there are problems.

It's not quite "server is down".

It's more "server is up and down, mostly down".

I was able to fetch 90% of an app earlier today, then it got stuck and wasn't able to fetch the last 35k despite many tries over an hour. Ie. it was up and went down.

Just now, I see repository.maemo.org is mostly not resolving (NXDOMAIN) but occasionally does. http isn't up anyway so it makes little difference.

Got the same problem, think they will sort it soon, all these new N900 users must be adding strain to there servers and costing them extra.

What's the IP it was resolved to?
