Just a quick question, are the apps in extras-devel able to update like the apps in extras, or do i need to reinstall to get the newer version? I have been using the butterfly msn protocol for about 2 weeks and it has never had an update, is anyone working on it still?

Cheers all

Does the apps also update if apps are moved higher up the ladder, for instance from devel to testing?

you shouldnt have need to update manually but one can never know for sure. you can see from the page I've linked that what is the latest version of package xxx. if its newer than you have in your device, uninstall and reinstall newer.

As long as you have installed the apps via the App manager, and have the repositories enabled, it should alert you to any updated version of the package, whichever repository it is in.
