It looks like you hit the same problem (in different shape) - process gst-video-thumbnailerd went crazy. That process is started by system media player and it may consumer memory ... and CPU in your case.

No, they both only install signed apps. They're getting the files from the local Akamai server farm though, so this will differ by region. It's possible that the corruption is only on the US server farm(s).

i have an issue about the same right now :/
i go to the app manager, but it does not even update and it ends up with a message: (no applications available).
is it me? or the servers are down?
if its me how can i fix it?

update:
i've fix it
i found that i was missing: /var/lib/apt/lists/partial when i was using sudo apt-get update

so i used the code:
Code:
sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/partial
and then
Code:
sudo apt-get update

tried apt-get update,

tried to change the DNS server addresses

but still can't seem to get the wireless to work on my home wifi... it worked fine in other wifi networks.... funny

they said unable to connect to the repositorires Translation-en GB

what does that mean?
