I second both ascherjim's sentiment and situation. Thanks very much. I'm using abiword on a daily basis, and frankly, I will not even consider upgrading until a 'real' word processor (that is also compatible with a desktop system) is released. In the meantime, for all intents and purposes, the 770 does everything I need it to do, and it is thanks to guys like you, Aleksandyr, that keep me (and others like me) afloat. Thanks, Keith

More news on abiword here: http://www.figuiere.net/hub/blog/?20...6-for-maemo-20

2.4.6 is working fine on my 770. Some abiword developers have a discount code ofr the N800, so there may be an "official" versiuon out for that soon as well.

As I've previously reported, I have been using the previous version of Abiword on my 770 for some time. I've just downloaded the new version. My Application Manager recognizes it and tries to install it, but ultimately fails, with no explanation. Have those of you who have gained a successful install of this new version done anything different than "requesting" the Application Manager to install it in the usual manner?

I did install with application manager and it went well. I upgrade the OS to new version but I installed all those applications which were there before upgrade so hard to tell if the upgrade helped abiword installation. Anyway I just put needed information to application catalogue and now Abiword is running well, if you don't mind few crashes that have happened. I think it would be useful to check that application catalogue entry, there could be some little error in there.

Well, my Application Manager still can't effect a successful install, neither of the new Abiword nor the required additional dependencies, even though they're all listed on my 770 as being available for installation. Either my Application Manager is not working, or my install of the previous Abitword is interfering with it (which is probably unlikely). So, I guess I'll just have to continue with the earlier version. Thanks for your advice.
