currently there is no option to open a link in a new window in the background. So you always have to switch back to the old window via the task manager. I guess it would be easy to add a corresponding entry to the context menu (E.g. "open in new window in background").
FWIW, Midori does this quite well, in fact it is a user pref whether to open the new link in the BG or FG. That said, Mnidori has its host of problems and bugs at the moment, but opening a BG link is not one of them.
This has been buggin' me from the beginning, but I just didn't realize it. O.o
I just really hope it gets fixed, because there's really no sense to even have bugzilla/brainstorm, if these simple user-friendly addons won't see the daylight.
I want this, because it's the way I tend to read web pages. But I've noticed that holding many web pages in the background pushes memory usage hard -- and this *has* definitely caused me to miss calls as the phone application has a hard time getting enough memory to run...
