I am not too great at linux, so please forgive my noob-osity.

Recently I have gotten a Nokia 770 from my friend, which currently runs the 2007He and has xterminal and kismet installed, both of which run well.

However, just to have some more fun, i thought it would be nice to install the aircrack-ng software (you know, cause i locked myself out of my network ). So I downloaded the related software over here (http://mulliner.org/nokia770/) and tried installing it using the standard application manager.... no success I get the normal "Install?" message, I click install, and it pops up "Unable to Install, Application Package is in compatible with current software,"

Attempts to install it from source code, (getting the tar.gz from the website and going through xterminal) have had similar problems. I try to follow the commands here (http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=newbie_guide) with minimal success, I cannot do the "make install" command. nor the "./Install" command.

Might the package only work for OS2008? How do I find out?

It's not that simple: to install from source you need a complete development environment (compiler, linker, etc.) and that's not installed on the tablet (and even if it were it couldn't work too well due to limited memory and cpu power).
All packages are built on a host computer and they have to be cross-compiled (since the processor on your pc is different than the one on the tablet). You'll find more information in the wiki.
I don't know what's your problem with the 770, sometime ago I found a package with aircrack for the n800 and it works mostly fine, but its usefulness is limited, since the wifi driver doesn't allow for packet injection.
