Do you have Xournal installed? Can you try this and see if you have the same problem? I know that on my N800 and N810 I didn't have this problem and they have resistive touchscreen too.

Installed and tested it - the top part definitely seems less responsive, and I had more skipped lines on the right side than on the left, contrary to your image. However, when I load up the preinstalled Sketch I don't have skipped lines with the same amount of pressure on the both sides (although it has a small margin) but it suddenly stops registering lines no matter of the screen sensitivity. Something similar might be happening with Xournal as well, but it just recovers `faster`...

Maybe Xournal is just not grabbing the touchscreen events fast enough, and since when you get to the edges you definitely have lesser flexibility (tho not that noticeable) it just doesn't register the touches on time...

Seems like the screen is less responsive on the top in all applications. I certainly have to press harder to open the applications menu then when I press a button that is in the middle of the screen.
I hope this is just a software glitch, and that they'll fix it...

Somebody simply just cant tell something is missing.

ok you tell me......
1) when you try tapping your menu icon our desktop, will it start moving?
2) Inside menu area, if you tap on empty area what happens?
hey i am sorry ... but youtube vids can help if you really are doing something wrong,

1- no, things wont move at all and only the menu will display if no app is running, otherwise the dashboard/task-manager appears showing all the running apps
2- of course we go back to previous or the desktop depending on where we r.

maybe you should return it or go back to the shop where u bought it from? Or do you have accessto someone else's n900 so you can verify that your experience changes or not.

When i bought my cell, it was v1.2009....and US variant. I upgraded using NSU, from India. So i doubt what was the variant for 2.2009 firmware version. i think i might be a blobal release variant but not sure.

For flashing i took 3.2010 global variant firmware.
can somebody confirm, in 3.2010 global variant version, if you tap on empty areas will it take you back to desktop. (Is that funcationality thr in this variant?)

maybe a hardware issue? Since you know how to flash, why not try just some other variant, like the one for middle east. I am running that and running pretty good. My version is 3.2010.02-8.003.
