160 apps installed? a lot for me, how's your rootfs after a bunch of apps installed?

@madskillz6: try re-calibrating and use the stylus! tap the center, you need a good aim to calibrate it better. then reboot your device.

@gabby131
I tried that too.....just want to update on what i am facing now.....

1) Experiencing difficulty in tapping the menu button. I have to tap for a long time to get into menu. rest off times, desktop starts moving.

2) Inside menu, if i tap the empty area, i was getting back to desktop. now i cannot. i have to open some app and then close that to go back to desktop.

3) if i go to setting --> About product , product information is displayed in the bottom portion of the screen which covers 75% of the screen. if i tap on empty area above that(rest 25%), product information was going back. Now content in product information keeps scrolling if tap on the rest 25%

etc.,,

Although I hate going off topic, but yes, I have 160-ish apps installed, and my root's at 80% (moved some stuff out of /usr/share into /opt)

just found this as i was looking for answers to the exact same problem,

ive had my n900 for a little under 2 months and all of a sudden after a blissful few weeks of no problems whatsoever it started to do this exact same thing;i go to press the menu button& barley can get it to come on & sometimes as im sliding through the desktop pages it seems to get stuck with one half of the screen showing a bit of one page and the other a bit of the next; also when this is all happening tasks seems to go slower & touches seem to get random

Gosh i really thought i was the only one that had this problem; strange thing is it happens randomly throughout the day & for varied amounts of time & after its hissy fit it seems to go back to normal like nothings happened

one confession though i HAVE droped my n900 only once and only about a week after having it ( i know im terrible ) ,wasnt a bad or high drop but was on hard wood flooring, even though im not sure if this was the cause beacuse even after the drop things still were going fine for a few weeks.

can anything other than a drop cause this? i just feel that due to it working fine for quite a long time before all this and me not doing anything diffrent in that time to cause this then there must be another explaination!

thanks all!

just had a thought though & its a strange one, could the problem be anything to do with the accelerometer?? a strange idea i know but maybe someone who knows this stuff will know? beacuse im no wizz kid when it comes to computers & software/hardware so im not even sure if you could link somthing like the accelerometer with the touch screen

I hope this is just a software glitch, and that they'll fix it...
I think it's a problem with the calibration. I had the same problem. you may find this thread useful:

Well i had a fun time with my n900 today almost was in tears with how bad things were getting could not get anything to work & i was almost going to just give up & take it to a repair shop BUT.....

i did somthing which i feel so silly not doing in the first place; since ive had the phone ive had a screen protector on & just decided to rip it off in the slight hope that it might fix the problem & to my shock everything seems to have gone back to normal!!

i guess i didnt think of taking it off sooner beacuse its never given me a problem up until now & i still find it strange how all of a sudden the screen protector could start interfering with the touch screen but then i guess maybe if dust or dirt managed to get inbetween the two layers that could cause the problem

anyway if others have this problem & have one on then take of the screen protector maybe change to a new one or sumthin then see if that helps, even though im sure most would try taking the screen protector off sooner then i did, boy i feel stupid

but at least im happy in having my wonderful n900 fully working again!

Rizenknight, you saved my day. I had the same problem, and your solution solved it for me. I haven't think of that solution, taking off the screenprotectoc either. Hope the problem will not return. Thank you very much for sharing your experience!
