It’s coming..............an individual with a stupid cap and little shorts will soon be arriving with my brand new N900!

Now I am very excited about this and have been admiring this phone for some time. I have been following talk.maemo.org for the latest and greatest news/apps/hacks on all the possibilities for this device and am so impressed with this community.

Now on to the point of the post:

In all of your experience with the N900 I would like to see your list of apps/scripts/hacks you would implement with a virgin N900 from first to last.

One of the main reasons I ask is I will be looking to use 6AXIS with SNES EMU etc. I have heard this requires a Kernel refit so should I do this first?

Would appreciate any advice
(trolls can "suck-it" though)

Catorise - Organise the menu system logically rather than have all the apps and settings etc in one main display (like the iphone).

BlueMaemo - hook it up to my ps3.

gTranslate - google translate function. Awesome app

Headphone daemon - pauses the media when headphones are unplugged

maemo-geolocation - GeoLocation provider extension

Petrovich - Allows you to share/send ANY file over bluetooth, email or a sharing server. Very good.

rootsh - enable root access.

zoutube - view and download youtube videos directly from your N900.

In addition to above: -

Media
  • tunewiki lyric widget
  • FM transmitter widget
  • fmboost app
  • extra codecs pack for video

There's too many games to list, but
  • Angry Birds
  • Bounce Evolution
are two which show off the device really well.

If you have an unlimited data plan, get JoikuSpot to turn your N900 into a wireless router when not at home.

Others include
  • Desktop conversations widget
  • ForcaWeather or OMweather widgets
  • Facebook widget (but it is a major battery drainer)

Enjoy!!

Thanks on the Facebook battery draining advice, this is something I am slightly concerned over.

I did hear that it is possible to run a script from bootup that checks the rx packets from every connection and if not used for a specified amount of time closes the connection. In other words shuts to offline unless restarted.

I cant find this thread anymore, does anyone know where to find it?

I haven't noticed much battery draining with the FB widget (normally it's not on my active part of desktop).

- Shortcutd is also good for setting hardware keys to e.g. browser back-button, dashboard, menu, etc.
- Hermes to import your friends' information from Facebook (photos, birthdays, etc)
- gPodder, Panucci, Mplayer, KMplayer could also be useful, if you need such.

Battery improvement: 3G Selection Mode Applet and a 'brightness setting applet'
BurgerFace(new, uses face recognition from front-face cam U must get it from a site though), FloboPuyo, HoopsFeenzy, Airport and Xploder are some playable games.
You might also want to use qtirreco or irreco to remote ur tv/dvd/xbox etc, transmission witter(best twitter app i think) and tweakr(to tweak some settings.

That is in addition to everything said above

@afak: You use zoutube, do u like it?
Mine slows down everything and is like 5X as leggy and slow as youtube itself

Edit: u might also like Let Patterns(setup all yor LED patterns), and 'Now Playing Notifications'(shows 'emaillike' notifications when song changes). I just got them and they look good!=D
