This is a really excellent script. I've been meaning to develop something like this for a while. I would suggest adding an autofocus function for the video mode, which doesn't refocus while recording. Hopefully this can be put in extras devel soon so people can easily get updates..

if you mean remove the sudden focus effect that happens sometimes when you start focusing for the first time, then I'm working on it already

I think he means add a button so the camera will auto focus automatically, like it does when you start filming the video at the beginning.

Yes, I would like a toggle to make the camera focus manually while the camera is recording, not just during the half press of the camera button.

I don't think that is possible with the v4lc-ctl right now

Is there any documentation for this v4l2-ctl command line program? I see an autofocus ioctl in the v4l2 spec, but get "unknown control 'focus_auto'" when I try to use it to set autofocus.
