Oh, and bring a good book to occupy you - the d/l & transfer for Europe took ~2 hours to complete :-)
Sorry but none of these things worked for me. I dont even have the .qf file... I have an old one on my E90 but i'ts not working with the N900

the.pf file is hidden (. means hidden file in Linux) you have to copy it over the XTerminal.

found a .qf in /home/user/MyDocs/.maps however copying it to /home/user/MyDocs/.maps/qf or /home/user/MyDocs/qf isn't helping

The file qf must be placed in /home/user/MyDocs (root of PC visible part of file system)

    pretty sure this:
    http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38872
    or this:
    http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...&highlight=.qf
will contain answers for most issues.

I also seem to remember that if your local install is missing files/folders for any reason, you can just delete it entirely and it will be recreated (without any cached/downloaded data, naturally) when you next run Ovi maps. That may help get you to a clean starting point? But I just downloaded map loader, connected n900 in USNB mode, and then followed the on-screen prompts, no need for any messing with .qf (or anything else).

the map loader works under Windows XP, does not work with 7 (not sure about vista), i have tried both of them. And also, n900 user needs to use mass storage mode.
