do a forum search, there's lots of info on how to make map loader work on n900 - XP works out of the box, but IIRC you have to run vista 64 bit in XP compatibility mode for it to work. Worked fine for me on XP when I did it a while back, but I think only USB mode is supported for n900 (ignore the prompt objecting to it). Oh, and bring a good book to occupy you - the d/l & transfer for Europe took ~2 hours to complete :-)
Sorry but none of these things worked for me. I dont even have the .qf file... I have an old one on my E90 but i'ts not working with the N900
It file create after first run of Nokia maps. It's too bad If you don't have it after run. May be your file system is detroyed? What show mount command? Have you string
/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /home/user/MyDocs type vfat
in out?
I also seem to remember that if your local install is missing files/folders for any reason, you can just delete it entirely and it will be recreated (without any cached/downloaded data, naturally) when you next run Ovi maps. That may help get you to a clean starting point? But I just downloaded map loader, connected n900 in USNB mode, and then followed the on-screen prompts, no need for any messing with .qf (or anything else).
the map loader works under Windows XP, does not work with 7 (not sure about vista), i have tried both of them. And also, n900 user needs to use mass storage mode.
