    Brightness 0.5

is there a way to set a lower brightness than the 5 levels as default?

i wonder if it is fixed levels or an arbitrary value in a register similar to the fm transmitter power?

I want it way darker than the current darkest setting. In pitch black night, the dark setting is still blindingly bright. It's bright enough to light up my bedroom when I have a white web page open.

I would love a darker setting. Is this actually possible? Lowering the backlight strength?

    yes it is.

    short answer:
    -open xterm
    -sudo gainroot
    - echo 2 > /sys/class/backlight/acx565akm/brightness
    - voila! you are done (its and expression, dont type this)

the default 1 level is 7 in brightness.

the new value its a bit darker than the keyboard leds.

an easy solution? no :P its easy enough for me. i dont know other way

ps: brightness 1 is black. dont try it if you dont know how to get out

    set brightness to 2 blindfolded

    ctrl + shiff + x
wait (just to be sure that the terminal has been opened)
    gain root
    echo 2 to brightness.

e: come on, this is common sense....
