You will need openssh client if you are using the N900 to do the tunneling but yes it does work. Prob not in the way you are looking for as it needs to be set up on the remote server as well.

Yes I mean, pidgin wont connect when Im at school, is there a way that i can change the proxy settings on the pidgin client so I can connect tru the open ports on my computer?

But I mean, not only to access files on my computer, to bypass the firewall and be able to use the internet on the N900 like if I was at home, without any restrictions whatsoever ...

Proxy settings won't help unless the firewall allows access to the port the proxy is serving on, which if yahoo and whatnot are blocked I doubt. Ditto for OpenSSH.

You'll probably have to find an offsite SSH server that is hosted on port 80 (HTTP) or 443 (HTTPS) to get through the firewall.
