Has anyone tried blocking ping (ICMP inbound) on their N900?

How would one go about doing this, the same way as in Debian Linux? This would be done for security purposes, assuming your N900 gets public IP from your ISP.

Thanks

I think ICMP replys are blocked per default when connected via your operator.

Check the file /etc/network/if-up.d/00_disable_icmp_echo_reply to see if I am correct

thanks of for the reply, I just checked and indeed ICMP replys are not being sent from the N900 when on GPRS. Watching tcpdump I see ICMP requests come in, but no replys going out.

I wonder if this this hinder the ability for Ptunnel or other ICMP tunneling programs to work?

That sounds like a reasonable conclusion, try to just remove the file and see what happens
