these numbers are really impressive for maemo-based devices.
i guess that shows that we are the most sophisticated community *being proud*

The downloads is from extras only, which is not even enabled out of the box. Ovi store and firmware dl:s are not counted. I think 5M downloads of community software is pretty spectacular.

This is the same story Also was thinking about possibility of being it urban legend but IMO it fits nicely with Nokia's management attitude towards Maemo, 'steep 4 of 5' and fact that negotiations with Intel about MeeGo was in advanced stage long before N900 release.

It's been enabled by default since PR1.1, so I'd expect it to be enabled out of the box for a while now.

The source is a respected british market analysis firm, that is considered to be expert on issues relating to Nokia. (IIRC) The figure was mentioned in a pay-to-read report and there's no publicly viewable source/link.

Hi, is there a breakdown of this number?

i.e. unique downloads, downloads of upgrades, extras, -testing, -devel, etc, etc.
