There is no need to delete them!

    Step-By-Step Directions:

Make sure to install rootsh from the Application Manager.

Download this attachment to your N900, do not put it into any folder, so that you can see it in your file manager (/home/user/MyDocs/)

    Open XTerminal

    Type:

    Code:
    sudo gainroot

    cd /home/user/MyDocs/

    mv tracker.cfg.txt /home/user/.config/tracker/tracker.cfg

    exit
    Then restart your phone.

    Open up XTerminal again,

    then type:

    Code:

    tracker-processes -r

    exit
Restart your phone again, and start Media Player. Those annoying sound files should be gone!

For those people who are curious about what I did, this is the line i added to the file /home/user/.config/tracker/tracker.cfg

    Code:
    # List of directory roots NOT to index and NOT to watch (separator=;)
    NoWatchDirectory=$HOME/MyDocs/core-dumps/;$HOME/MyDocs/cities/;$HOME/MyDocs/.sounds/Ringtones/;$HOME/MyDocs/tmp/;/media/mmc1/tmp/;/media/mmc1/cities/;$HOME/MyDocs/Res/;
    Have fun!

Edit: updating tracker-processes doesn't require root. Edited instructions accordingly!

Sygic gets its GPS data through the GPS subsystem on the N900 (which I guess is a version of gpsd, the gps daemon). Thus you could also switch to an external Bluetooth GPS by changing the setting in the control panel. That comes with its own set of problems though, basically the software on the N900 does a poor job with the NMEA data so that not all the info comes through all the time, and that combined with Sygic wanting all the data (not just position, speed and altitude) all the time can be problematic.
Thanks for explaining. Therefore, if I have no network/data plan waiting over 2 minutes to get a lock is very common. Too bad!

Do you mean the "automatic search" that is enabled by tweaking an undocumented parameter in a config file by hand? I doubt they're going to care too much.

I assume they disabled some of those options because they didn't work or had bugs. For instance, the volume settings don't work either.

(FWIW I get the application freeze too with "automatic search", but I was able to kill the process)

ATTN: The restart of the process should not be done as root.
(I don't use sygic but i have done this for several folders)

that is, open xterm and type directly
    tracker-processes -r

In connection with the 'lag' problem that seems to happen intermittently using N900 internal GPS with Sygic, I thought I'd just record that I have been using Sygic with a Nokia LD-3W wireless GPS module successfully and there is no lag when using it. Checking the 'Accuracy' stat on the GPS status page in Sygic shows on average an 11yd accuracy using the LD-3W and 25-35yd accuracy using the internal unit.

But why is the lag gone when changing some stuff @ settings.ini and also why isn't Nokia Maps lagging with internal BT?

For me the changed settings don't fix the lag and Ovi Maps (and Google Maps) do both lag with the internal GPS... Sometimes the internal GPS works fine, and others it lags, regardless of what program I use to monitor it...

Okay, then it's a different story
For me the internal receiver has been so far good enough (Maps and edited Sygic works both fine).
