Hey, im pretty new to linux.

I have installed easy debian, and synaptic manager works from the maemo menu however when i fire up LXDE desktop and try to run synaptic manager from there it will not open - im trying to see if i can get compiz to run on the LXDE desktop, but without the synaptic manager i cant install any apps to the LXDE desktop

Any help would be great.

EDIT: i seemed to have another problem whereby only some applications will only allow use of the keybored under EASYlinux LXDE. RE EDIT: i have now discovered its more of an intermitent problem, some times the keybored works and sometimes it doesn't

Thanks

Craig

Go to Run and type: sudo synaptic

This will launch Synaptic as root

about the keyboard problem, its documented in the wiki as easy debian under the "Keyboard issues and tips" subtitle.

"It may happen that the hardware keyboard stops working in LXDE. It can be restored by hitting the power button and then tapping outside the menu or also by using the "Fix LXDE keyboard" application icon. "

hitting the power button is what i use
