I get the general concern of keeping internet and data freedom, even about media transportability and (reasonable) sharing.

But how do you figure the content creator's interest in all this?

That they will continuously produce everything for 'free'? (considering that the copies that spread on the internet don't generate income for them). Without a reasonable revenue stream, then we will just get youtube-like content for our consumption...

I pay for mp3 downloads from Amazon.com. Until that option was available I bought CDs at the record store.

I work for a cable company. I am aware of people stealing services and content. Most people are willing to pay for service or do without. Otherwise we would need armies of auditors.

I think the current restrictions on video distribution are overly harsh and I feel that Hollywood has been treating all of us like criminals since the first VHS tape had an FBI warning at the beginning.

If they really want to stop piracy, go after the pirates. They'll find most of them in the Chinese DVD factories where they press the movies.

The scaler on a nvidia card seems quite decent to me (scaling standard definition up to 1920x1080), maybe I'm not too exigent.

How nice of them. One more reason to use thepiratebay.org.

Many tv don't accept the full 1920x1080 from the vga port, you'll have to use hdmi for that.

Oh, really?
They've been saying that for every new technology since the piano roll, if you still believe them I have a nice property to sell in the center of Paris, it's called Tour Eiffel and I sell it really cheap.

Ok, I understand if you maintain a tunnel vision to see everything from one side only.

My offer still stands. If you're not interested in Paris I have other interesting properties around Europe.
