I just saw this over at /. regarding laptops/computers with built-in accelerometers or external ones, catching earthquakes.
I thought "hey this seems cool just for the hell of it, I should get me one of those external thingys." The I realized that there is one already in the N900.
This would be really cool if one could have this running in the background collecting stuff for the Quake-Catcher Network. It uses Boinc and just collects data, no processing as with Seti@home or Milkyway@home or any of the other gazzillion projects to boinc. Seems there are some stuff going on for the ARM plattform.
Im sad to say I am not able to make anything useful of this information, but I thought I could atleast share it and see if anyone out there with knowhow think this sounds fun and maybe even give it a go! Ghhn.. gotta sleep. Zzzz...
