Frank,

Antonio Manaus is the main person responsible for Minimo on the Nokia Internet Tablets (770 and N800). He has a blog where installation instructions can be found. Doug Turner pretty much IS the Minimo project, but he announced a couple months ago that he won't have much time for the project in the future. It has been a while since Antonio released a new version of his Minimo port for Nokia as well. My own personal view is that the Minimo project is dead, but that it has been left in a state that is fairly useable and another developer could pick up where the others left off, if they felt motivated.

I have just successfully changed my UserAgent to "Mask as Mozilla" on my desktop Opera 9 browser.

(Tools->Quick Preferences->Edit Site Preferences->Select Network Tab->Use Browser Identification combo box.)

...to prove a point.

Google apps now works fine. It is Googles server that is not letting Opera in and not the software!!!

We all take for granted these "free" services... These services are not "free" but are paid for by advertisement.
This "problem" more than likely will go away after some sort of financial agreement between Opera and Google.

As far as a work around goes it may be possible to replicate my Opera 9 "Mask as Mozilla" string in the N800's browser using the opera.ini file >> http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...7164#post37164

or in a yet to be located, ua.ini file.

Hi YoDude,

thanks for your feedback

But it would be class or helpfully -
  • we know the future browser strategy of Nokia for the N800 or future linux tablet series
Nokia strategy by symbian S60 Browser ??? - open source - KHTML & Safarithe S60 browser supports javascript, plugins, frames and iframes, CSS and of course XHTML.

YoDude: The N800 Opera version does not work with (at least) Google Docs, even if setting user-agent to exactly what Firefox uses. It makes it pass the initial test but there's more and that fails. What that "more" is is something we'll figure out later I guess.

Hi,

and the future is (probably) a offline Firefox Browser and Google Apps application (gmail, docs and spreadsheet) - see Firefox 3 planning

Hi Frank... That^ is EXACTLY what is needed to make the N800 a useful Internet tool. (insert "have a drink" emot-a-con)

Hi also to TA-t3,

No disrespect intended but who are you referring to by "we'll" (we will). I try to provide links to information that helps support my reasoning... However, if the "we'" means a super secret N800 society that I'm not privy to that is developing or has knowledge of information that is not posted here. Please let me know now.

I'll stop waisting my time with this thing and this board.

The royal "we"
Seriously, "we" obviously means myself and anyone else interested. From reading postings it's clear that several are working one way or another at getting this to work, there's not more to it than that. In another thread (NB: It's as much work for me as for you to search for the actual thread) somebody also started a wiki page related to this, so there's clearly interest: http://maemo.org/maemowiki/WebAppsOnIT
