He is talking about the little sound clip that plays when the phone begins charging.
You can switch your phone on silent or in the settings set system sounds to 0 or off.

It doesn't make the noise if you set it on silent profile, but that's not really the solution you wanted, is it?

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

I like the sound, because sometimes my N900 does not start charging when I plug it and I can (not) hear it. By plugging again, it starts charging.
If the wav/au/*-file can be found on the filesystem, it can be replaced with a silence or maybe with an empty file.
