1. How to get the border less theme.
I made a copy of a theme I liked, echo in my case. To get rid of the borders along the top and left side I edited the image files located in
/usr/share/themes/theme name/images/
qgn_plat_theme_thumbnail.png
qgn_plat_home_status_bar_background.png
qgn_plat_task_navigation_background.png
I used Gimp to edit the images. I just removed all the color leaving only the transparency.
There are also some files under the theme directory that will need editing for the name of your copied theme, I'll post the file names later (I'm at work).
hi
done the pngs, can't get then into the themes folder though (using emelfm2 in as root) says permission denied. how do you get them into the thems folder?
Betty: Is there anyway that you can share that theme with the rest of us? Id do it myself but I have no idea where to start!
Thanks
Oh, geeze. Um... here's my modified ThemeMaker effort as a .deb (NiceLite2). I've gotten rid of not only the frames, but the radio box itself and toned down the radio station listing bar. A click on the arrow on the right of the bar will bring up all your pre-programmed stations against a white background so you'll never get lost, at least.
I also discovered that I can slide my weather things under the radio station listing bar.
The assumption here is that you already are familiar *where* certain buttons are on the invisible radio box. It didn't take long for me to figure out intuitively where the radio buttons are and where to tap if I want to switch weather cities. The only downside is that the shape is definitely there so you can't just lower the radio station listings bar to the bottom of the screen or top (or make it narrower).
Since I was futzing with some colours, the up/down arrows on the application menu are now pretty blue and the mail alert colour is, I think, cherry reddish.
There were so many buttons and boxes and things on the ThemeMaker .png file that I didn't want to play too much with it since I'm not graphically inclined at all.
I found the application itself was easy once I figured out in PhotoShop how to magic pen areas and just dump a colour in it with the paint can. But, like I mentioned, there are *a lot* of small graphics and, really, I quite like the cool blue of nuvoSourceImage.png so I didn't think there was much need to change many things.
Now I'm just waiting for fiferboy to come up with an incredibly easy way to have a one-button application launcher to get rid of those irritating contact icons and I'll be pretty happy :-)
Um... I've just discovered the theme's .deb is something like 748KB so it won't fit on the forum.
I'm not sure what to do at this point and I'm on my way out to volleyball for the night... any suggestions?
Let me know if you have any problems downloading the file.
I installed the .deb and it works well. (the desktop looks really good, but when you have an application open the top right hand corner looks a little messed up.)

I spent about ten minutes trying to figure that slight irksome thing out but damned if I could figure out which of the graphics on the master .png it was
Now we need a NiceDark theme for light background images... .
Really hope others get in on this and start designing, babies!!
Great stuff indeed! Hey, once you get the themes served somewhere stable, put them to the maemo.org/downloads as well! It's really just filling a form and putting the location of the deb file into the .install link. Send me an email if you need help with that! I love the NiceLite2.
