Darn, you beat me to it! If Nokia had included an AnyKey, (presumably a Context-sensitive Button (Fair Warning: link (TVTropes) will eat your life!)), it would just map to anything we wanted, with *one* button press. Nokia could market the N900 as an "accessible" phone, you wouldn't need to do anything except poke at it!

On a more serious note, I think I've used some or all of these methods at various times, with varying degrees of success. It's kind of annoying.
