    N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware

    ...and when i go into the updates, now it says no updates are avaiable.

    Help!

    You should do a backup before updating or you do have to reinstall things. Since you are new at this it's not bad to get some extra experience anyway, I think.

    Ah!

    ...and the other problem is my modem. Connects to updates no problem over a mobile network.

    Turned firewall off made no difference.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    You could have just gone to Settings > About product.

    That would give you quite a bit of information.

    The latest firmware as of now is PR1.1.1, or 3.2010.02-8.002

    EDIT: And as far as I know, updating the firmware using NSU (?) or the Flasher will erase your settings, contacts, and application list. That's what the Backup application is for.

    Went into update, but have tried repeatedly since thursday morning... and keeps coming back with error messge saying it couldn't conenct to

    might have already been answered 100 times over - but healthcheck will tell you the firmware number and the named version
